This is not the first post on this blog. So, in case you’re wondering why this title. There you have it. I created this blog last year, it happened to be one of the numerous blogs I have created in the past four years. By His grace, it’ll be a success.
My inspiration came from Gracious Akande. Whenever she makes a post I am motivated by here consistency. Even though she may not post anything for months, she still finds it easy to flow again when she returns, like it was only yesterday she made her last post.
All the while, I searched the internet to find how to start and run a successful blog but none worked for me – especially when I’m directed to get a custom domain. So I kept creating several blogs. I just create and delete as often.
Reading, Grace’s blog opened me to a new perspective on blogging. I’m not saying that I want to write like her or copy her style. No. What I mean is, I’ve learnt a lot. Especially in the aspect of consistency. Another aspect is the purpose.
It all boils down to purpose. All the time I rushed in and rushed out, I had no purpose. No plans. I just wanted to run a blog because others had one and people made money from it. To my greatest surprise, most of the awesome blogs I’ve read are not monetized.
Initially, I found it hard to believe that someone with such great content and a huge audience would not love to get a dime from the blog. Some even have custom domains! This is where I understood that it stems from the passion to write and share with people.
I remember when I would just write random things and share with everyone on my contact list on WhatsApp and to my timeline on Facebook while tagging a lot of people. I still got very little views and this was very discouraging because I was kind of responding to an addiction (social media addiction). I wanted that instagratification. That feeling of “you are the boss”. And I never got it.
It’s true that experiences teach you a lot of lessons, but I prefer the lesson learnt from another person’s experience. The only thing is that you just have to be in the shoes of that person before it is certified that you have learnt the lesson.
All my life, I have wanted attention, likes, comments, re-post and all. But truly they are vanity and are one of the qualities under the lusts of the flesh – Gal. 5:16, 1John 2:16. Unless we allow the Lord by His Spirit and His Word to guide us in what we do, we would be frustrated in what we do and struggle at every point.
Let this blog be an avenue for people to have a rethink of their lives pursuit and to turn to God in total surrender. God is our maker and He has a purpose for each of us. Just the way you light a candle and place one in the sitting room, another in the bedroom and another in the dinning, that’s how God knows where we ought to be. He can only place us in our right place if we yield to Him in absolute surrender.
That would begin the process of rebirth. We are then given a plain sheet to start afresh. Letting every ink be according to his command and instructions.
*instagratification – to get instant satisfaction without having to wait for a long time.
Thanks for reading! I do hope you are blessed. Leave a comment if you will. I’d love to hear what you think about this post.
God bless you.
